China's President Hu Jintao said Thursday Beijing would offer $20 billion in new loans to Africa, underscoring the Asian powerhouse's growing links with the resource-rich continent.  The pledge, made at a Beijing forum on China-Africa cooperation, is double the amount Beijing agreed to lend to Africa at the last forum in 2009.  To read the full report, go to our NEWS DESK link. South Africa has entered a list of the top 20 prospective host economies for investment by transnational corporations (TNCs) for the period 2012 to 2014, the latest World Investment Report (WIR2012) shows. The Gambia's Muhammed Jah clearly remembers the day, in the late 1990s, when a friend told him that he was going to the airport to pick up a consultant who was coming to teach his department a word processing application popular at the time, WordPerfect. "I said: 'How come we have a consultant coming all the way from Europe just to teach our people how to type a letter on a computer?'" The wine believed to be South Africa’s oldest red blend celebrates its 80th birthday this year. Chateau Libertas was launched in 1932, by an American medical doctor, adventurer and former Texas Ranger, who had gone into winemaking when he moved to Stellenbosch. Suborbital space tourism company Virgin Galactic announced on Wednesday that work had started on the development of a small satellite launch rocket, designated LauncherOne, that will be dropped from the company’s WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) carrier aircraft and provide commercial small satellite launch services. Usually referred to as the ‘China-Africa education cooperation’, the cooperative relations between China and African countries in education are not symmetric. In fact, this cooperation is one of the most important components of Chinese international aid. The BBC has created this fine site to provide the curious visitor with a plethora of insights into the relationship between the human body and mind. In the Body section, visitors can take on a number of fun challenges in order to learn more about the muscles, skeleton, and the nervous system. Moving on, The Mind area contains a range of self-guided surveys that explore human emotion, memory retention, and a number of other subjects. For those concerned about sleep, the Sleep section contains information on sleep problems, sleep advice, and a well-developed section titled "Why do we sleep?" One particularly fun area here is the "Can You Compete Under Pressure?" challenge, which is hosted by world-renowned athlete Michael Johnson. The challenge takes 20 minutes and visitors who complete the challenge will learn a great deal about their own ability to perform under pressure. Visit this site.

The National Museum of the American Indian has thousands of items in its holdings, and this website provides a representative sample of their object and historic photo collections. First-time visitors can get started by using the Explore Collection Highlights area on the homepage. This area includes fantastic examples of contemporary Native American jewelry, historic bear masks, and photographs from eastern Canada taken by noted photographer Frederick Johnson. Also, visitors can use the Search feature to look around topical areas such as Peoples/Cultures, Places, and Object Specifics. The perfect entry point here is really the Explore section, which includes a featured item, like the remarkable dance staff from the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux tribe. It's worth noting that many of the items include their original catalog cards, many of which date to the early 1900s. For those persons with an interest in Native American history, culture, and art, this website will be indispensable. Visit this site.

If you can't make it to the British Museum, why not peruse some of its great programs via this website? The materials here cover excavations of unique objects, ongoing play performances at the Museum, and audio recordings of talks and lectures. First-time visitors should look through the Events area, which contains talks about the life of Egyptologist Jean-Francois Champollion and the world of Antony and Cleopatra. Moving on, the Object Stories area contains the Talking Objects collection. These videos features young people talking about what some of the storied items in the Museum mean to them. Additionally, the Exhibitions area features previews of recent exhibits like "Treasures of Heaven: Saints, Relics, and Devotion in Medieval Europe" and "Grayson Perry: The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman."
