When architects, designers, and construction engineers want to get the latest scoop on what's going on in their profession, one of the places they go is the Design Build Network website. The site contains a great deal of information for people working in these industries, including reports on innovative construction projects, list of product providers, and information on suppliers.

Along with this more focused information, the "Features" area contains thoughtful essays on New York's High Line, reviews of architectural exhibits, and interviews with people like French designer Andree Putnam. After looking over some of these pieces, visitors can sign up to receive their newsletter, and look at their publication, The LEAF Review. Finally, the site also has a search engine, a job board, and other career-related resources. Visit this site.

The great wildebeest migration in Kenya is underway and more than a million of them, together with hundreds of thousands of zebras, are heading north from the endless plains of Tanzania's Serengeti region into the pastures of the Masai Mara in Kenya, seeking water and grass. "This is the first year we've ever seen the river this low," says Will Deed, who works with the Mara Conservancy, a not-for-profit group which manages one third of this huge reserve. 6. Education & Travel: Bird Sounds From the Americas
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Xeno-Canto is a fabulous website that exemplifies how the Internet can bring together people from around the world who have a common interest. This website offers bird songs, recorded by ornithologists and amateur birders alike, of almost 4500 species from around the world.

The site is divided up into "Americas", "Asia", "Africa", "Europe", and "Australasia", and visitors can click on any region they desire, in the far right hand corner of any page. There are many ways to view the information in the site, keeping in mind that the English and Latin are used to identify the birds. Under Collection, on the menu found on the left side of any page, visitors can click on the link "All Species" to see a list of all the species with recorded songs, for the region they selected.

The number of recordings of each species of bird is listed next to their name. The fun "Mysteries" link, underneath the "Participate" section also found on the left side menu, has bird recordings that the recorder can't identify and has posted for discussion hoping for some insight. Visit this site.

On this website, the Bancroft Library and the Ethnic Studies Library at the University of California Berkeley, along with the California Historical Library, present a collection of the Chinese in California digital archive in a topical format. This approach is meant to help gather the diverse resources available in the archive in a more manageable manner.

The collection is comprised of books, pamphlets, prints, photographs, manuscripts, and sheet music. The topics into which they are divided include "Chinese and Westward Expansion", "Chinese Communities outside of San Francisco", "Sentiments Concerning the Chinese", and "Anti-Chinese Movement and Exclusion". Once visitors have chosen a topic, they should click on the link in the middle of the homepage to be taken to a short explanation about the topic. Links to other websites with related or more in depth information are also included. Visit this site.

Four years ago student Kennedy Odede was living in the chaotic Nairobi slum where he grew up, in a 10-by-10-foot shack without running water, basic sanitation or electricity. But even there, in Kibera, a young man can get his hands on a computer. Kennedy Odede and AFK (American Friends of Kenya) founder Emily Silver reunite in Nairobi on Wednesday, a week before the dedication of the Kibera School for Girls, he and his partner, Wesleyan University graduate Jessica Posner, open the slum's first school for girls. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Based in Salford in the United Kingdom, the Working Class Movement Library offers a "unique collection capturing the stories and struggles of ordinary people's efforts to improve their world."

First-time visitors should click on the "Our Collection" link at the top of the homepage to get a sense of the holdings, which include primary and secondary materials on trade unions, politics, activists, and protests. After that, the "Galleries" section is a good place to look over, as it contains some digitized galleries of trade union emblems, political posters, and banners. Researchers and scholars will appreciate the "Catalogue" area. Here they can search the online catalogue for items that might be of use for their own work and scholarship. Also, visitors can sign up to receive their RSS feed and learn about upcoming talks, events, and conferences. Visit this site.

A Beginner's Guide to Day Trading Online

Day trading is highly profitable, and highly tumultuous. Moreover, the financial markets have changed considerably in recent years. Bear markets, skyrocketing home values, and a burgeoning demand for commodities have all contributed to roller-coaster stock prices. To top it off, the operating procedures of the markets have also changed.

Expert author Toni Turner gives readers the latest information on mastering the markets, including: decimalization of stock prices; new trading products such as E-minis and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs); precision entries and exits; and the new breed of trader. Written in an accessible, step-by-step manner, "A Beginner's Guide to Day Trading Online, 2nd Edition" shows how to day trade stocks in today's market. Visit the Delamere International Bookshop.
